The history of the relationship between art and money has been long and multi-faceted. High art is an esthetic category for the art-lovers, however, it is sold and bought for money as any commercial item, and it is even the object of commercial investment for many buyers. Andy WARHOL two hundred painted one-dollar notes was sold in November 2009 at Sotheby’s New York auction for an amazing USD 43.7 million. The inspiration for this discussion is a unique collection by the Berlin collector Stefan HAUPT which focuses entirely on artworks inspired by money.
