Presentation

Roger Eaton - British visual artist, photographer, sculptor, film-maker and cinematographer.

At Art Market Budapest 2019 he will be speaking about his inspiration, his process, the thoughts behind the allegory of using ballerinas to depict the ethereal beings between the worlds and the allegory of their form for the space between worlds.

“For centuries the ancient Greeks experimented with ways of representing the human body, both as an object of beauty and a bearer of meaning. The remarkable works of art in the exhibition range from abstract simplicity of prehistoric figurines to breath taking realism in the age of Alexander the Great. These works continued to inspire artists for hundreds of years, giving form to thought and shaping our own perceptions of ourselves. – This seemed to be a very good place for us to start figurative studies with photography – and to look at re-defining this “Definition” in our own way.
This is the first series of photographs in my on-going study of contemporary female human form and the fascinating point where the physical meets the ethereal. The photographs are about the investigation and interpretation of feelings into a visual format using photography.”
